It is impossible for anybody to stay positive all the time, but it is certainly possible to keep a positive mental attitude most of the time if you just pay attention to your feelings. Many people are are trapped in the common attitude of a victim nearly all the time, they are in a state of self-pity, depression, anger or negativity that doesn’t feel good at all.
Not only are we a lot more pleasant around others, when we are having a positive attitude – we feel good, are a lot more productive and happier. In a positive state we are a magnet to the good things in life according to most spiritual teachers.
When we feel good, we are not only happier, but more pleasant to be around, more productive and, according to many Law of Attraction teachers, magnetic to the good things in life.
So how is it possible to stay positive for the majority of the time? It certainly is a natural thing to be sad, afraid or angry when certain disturbing or traumatic events occur. Nobody really wants to attract a big crisis into their life, although these disasters very often inspire us to grow and find the strength to face them. But most of the time everyday live with the little annoyances and worries is keeping us away from feeling good. Those little things keep nagging on us.
Here are 5 Tips to keep a positive mental attitude, which in turn will help you to reach your goals much faster:
1. Don’t be A Slave of Your Schedule.
It is a sad fact that many people are in a constant hurry which in turn is the biggest cause of stress for them. To circumvent this always plan ahead. Leave your home earlier, calculate delays. Constant worrying about having not enough time, takes away some of your efficiency. Even if you are delayed you need to relax, if you are stuck in traffic put on some music you like, breathe deeply and think about something pleasant. You won’t be able to change the traffic conditions anyway, so stop worrying about it.
2. Change To Healthy Food Choices To Increase Your Energy.
Replace coffee, energy drinks and sweets, which are only enhancing your energy level and mood for a short period of time and lead to crashes with nutritious food alternatives that allow you to control your blood sugar level and mood. Healthy alternatives are sunflower seeds or almonds.
3. Take Action, Don’t Let Others Control You.
You can only control your behavior and actions, don’t feel responsible for someone else s actions. If someone is bothering you with some quality you don’t like, you are probably taking this personally. Don’t let others ‘get’ to you. If someone is constantly lying, rude, lazy or show some other quality that is unacceptable to you, consider avoiding them as much as possible. It is not your responsibility to change them as only they can do it themselves. Try not to be too concerned about someone else s behavior unless it is an actual threat to your life or the life of a loved one.
4. Reserve Time For Yourself Every Day To Quiet Your Mind.
If you never tried meditation or some other method to quiet your mind, like one of the gentle forms of yoga or tai chi, then you should consider starting now. There are lots of free resources all over the internet that will help you get started. It will greatly help you to focus, re-align and get in connection with your inner self – which in turn helps you to feel good. Even a long walk in nature will help greatly. While doing your daily exercise, concentrate on taking relaxing long breaths. Try keep your mind empty or stay focused on your breathing. The goal is to keep out the stressful thoughts and experiences and relax deeply.
5. Always Keep Track of Your Moods!
Bad moods are like quicksand. If you don’t pay attention to them, they will suck you in and things will start to get worse and worse. Try to start paying attention to your moods, so you can avoid stepping into your emotional quick sand. If you are starting to sense that the ground is getting soft (your positive attitude is slowly fading away), the try walking in another direction. As soon as you start feeling your mood change, do something that will lighten you up or at least diverts you. Take a short walk, breathe deeply, play with your animal or kids. Do whatever is fun to you. If you are stuck at work, try to remember a positive occurance that will make you smile or think about something you look forward to. If you are at home you could divert yourself with exercise or a good book. I think you are getting the point – if you feel that you are about to sink into a bad mood, don’t just let it happen – try to change it immediately.
